Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Union Yoga Studio LLC (“Union,” “we,” “us”) operates the website at unionyogastudio.com and the yoga studio at 4020 Powell Rd, Powell, OH 43065. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit our website, use our mobile app, or visit the studio.

2. What information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the studio and the website. Here is a complete list by category.

3. Why we collect it
- To book your classes. Your name, email, and phone are the minimum we need to confirm a reservation and reach you if a class cancels.
- To take payment. Your card information (processed by Mariana Tek's payment processor) is how we charge for a $20 intro month, an Unlimited YOU membership, a class pack, or a drop-in.
- To keep you safe in class. If you disclose an injury or condition, we pass that note to your teacher so they can offer appropriate modifications.
- To send you useful messages. Class reminders, schedule changes, studio news, and occasional promotions. You can unsubscribe from any marketing email at any time.
- To improve the website. Aggregate and anonymized analytics tell us which pages work and which don't, so we can fix broken flows (like the $20 signup form we diagnosed in April 2026).
- To meet our legal obligations. Tax records, accounting, and waivers we are required to retain for a period set by Ohio law.
6. How long we keep your data
- Active account: as long as you have a Mariana Tek account with us. Close it at any time and we'll mark it inactive within 24 hours.
- Closed account: we retain the minimum required (name, email, transaction records) for 7 years to comply with Ohio tax and accounting rules.
- Waiver: retained for the statute of limitations (Ohio: generally 2 years after your last class).
- Website analytics: Microsoft Clarity retains anonymized session data for 13 months, then deletes it.
- Email marketing: we delete contacts from our email list within 30 days of unsubscribe.
7. Your rights (everyone, everywhere)
Regardless of where you live, you can ask us to:
- See the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong or out-of-date.
- Delete your account and personal data (subject to the retention rules above for tax/liability).
- Export your account data in a common format (CSV or JSON).
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. The unsubscribe link is in every email.
- Ask us not to sell your personal information — we already don't.
Email pooja@unionyogastudio.com with the request. We'll respond within 30 days (usually within 48 hours). We may ask you to confirm your identity so we're not handing someone else's data to the wrong person.
8. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you additional rights:
- Right to know the categories of personal information we have collected about you and the categories of third parties we've shared it with. Covered in Sections 2 and 4 above.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share personal information in this sense, so there is nothing to opt out of. If this ever changes, we will add a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link here.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information (like health information you disclose to a teacher) for any secondary purpose.
- Right to non-discrimination. You will not receive a different price, a different level of service, or a different experience because you exercised any of these rights.
You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We'll verify their authority with a signed permission.
9. EU/UK residents (GDPR)
If you are in the EU, the UK, or the EEA, our legal basis for processing your information is:
- Contract: to provide the service you signed up for (booking, payment, membership).
- Legitimate interest: to improve the website, prevent fraud, and keep staff safe. You can object at any time.
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting, and waiver retention.
- Consent: marketing emails (you can withdraw consent any time via the unsubscribe link).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. A list is at edpb.europa.eu. We'd rather you email us first — we respond faster than government agencies and the problem is usually solvable.
10. Children's privacy
Union Yoga Studio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our minimum age to create an account independently is 18; parents or legal guardians can register children 16+ with a signed waiver and must accompany any student under 16 to class.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, email pooja@unionyogastudio.com and we'll delete it.
11. Security
We use reputable vendors (Mariana Tek, Squarespace, Microsoft) that maintain SOC 2 or equivalent security programs. Payment card data is handled by a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant processor — we never see full card numbers. Our website is served over HTTPS.
No security system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will notify you by email and post a public notice on this page within 72 hours, as required by applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
When we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes (new categories of data collection, new vendor categories, new user rights), send a notice to your email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
Minor clarifications (typos, reformatting, vendor name updates) happen without notice.
